Dakota County Farmington Library Calendar Events for July 10- July 15

Tuesday, July 11
Farmington Afternoon Book Group
Held the first Tuesday of each month. In July, the group will discuss Brooklyn by Colm Toibin.
12:30-1:30 pm

Join a crew to pilot your own spaceship using the fast-paced multiplayer video game "Spaceteam" and our iPads.  Use teamwork and cooperative shouting to work together to repair your malfunctioning ship to keep it from crashing.  Space is limited.  Ages 10-16.
3:00-4:00 pm

Game Night
Get your game on!  Release your workday stresses by playing Catan and other board games with friends.

Evening Storytime for 2s -6s
Read, play, sing, talk and write together with stories and activities to develop early literacy skills for toddlers and preschoolers and their families. Siblings welcome. Ages: 2-6.

Wednesday, July 12
Outer Space Drawing
Learn how to draw rockets and planets on black paper and use chalk pastels to create a bright special-effect that makes your picture pop. Presented by Abrakadoodle. Registration required. Ages: 5-12.
10:30-11:30 pm

Open Knitting
Relax and enjoy the company of other knitters in a casual setting.  Learn new stitches, get help with unfinished projects or just sit and knit. Other crafters also welcome.

Thursday, July 13
Fantasy and Science Fiction Illustration*
Learn basic drawing and illustration techniques and explore the worlds, creatures and characters of fantasy and science fiction illustration using contemporary examples as inspiration for our own imaginative drawings.  Presented by Artistry. Registration required. Ages: 11-17.

Friday, July 14
Meet the Instruments*
Playing in a school band or a rock band, you have to start somewhere. Try a variety of musical instruments from Groth Music. Space is limited. Ages: 2-16.

Drop in for a variety of fun activities all summer long. Ages: 10-16.

Saturday, July 15
The Long Road to Publishing
Learn how to prepare your book to be published and how to maximize your publishing success. Various options will be presented and discussed and published author Kristin Van Risseghem will offer basic advice on how to promote yourself and your writing. Geared for ages 12 and older.
