Motorists will encounter delays and a detour on Interstate 94 in St. Paul early this week as the road will close overnight on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and again on Wednesday, Aug. 31. During the closures, construction crews will place beams for the new MacKubin Street and Grotto Street pedestrian/bicycle bridges over the interstate.

Eastbound I-94 will close from 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 between Lexington Parkway and Marion Street for work on both bridges.

The westbound lanes of the interstate will close from 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 to 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 between Marion Street and Lexington Parkway for work on just the MacKubin Street bridge. An additional closure is planned for next week to finish placing beams for the new Grotto Street bridge over the westbound lanes of I-94.

Motorist should follow the posted detours using I-35E, Highway 36 and Highway 280 to bypass the closure.
The pedestrian and bike bridges will remain closed until approximately November. During the closure, pedestrians and bicyclists should use Dale Street as a detour.
