Construction of new Highway 610 interchange will close Maple Grove Parkway, beginning April 4

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will start construction of the the interchange of Maple Grove Parkway and the new alignment of Highway 610 on Monday, April 4. The construction project requires closing Maple Grove Parkway between County Road 81 and 99th Avenue North. However, traffic will still be able to reach businesses along 105th Avenue just south of County Road 81. Access also will be maintained for businesses north of 99th Avenue and west of Maple Grove Parkway, such as Target and Home Depot, along with the city compost site. All other traffic will follow a signed detour using County Road 81, Fernbrook Lane N and 99th Avenue.

Additional project work this year includes:

  • Construction of the new alignment of Highway 610 between existing Highway 610 and I-94
  • Construction of the ramps from westbound Highway 610 to westbound I-94 and the ramp and bridge from eastbound I-94 to eastbound Highway 610
  • Completion of tunnels over the BNSF Railroad tracks alongside County Road 81 and a bridge to carry the new alignment of Highway 610 over Fernbrook Lane.

The new interchange of Maple Grove Parkway and new alignment of Highway 610 is expected to open by the end of October 2016.
