The field day will be held August 12th, at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center's South Research Complex, off of 170th street. Refreshments will be served. Three Certified Crop Advisor Continuing Education Units (CEUs) have been awarded.
Three U of M Extension Specialists will talk about their ongoing research in Dakota County.
First, Dr. Fabián Fernández, U of M Nutrient Management Specialist, will give an update on his on-farm trials of nitrogen rates, sources, and timings. This project builds on the work done by John Lamb and reported on at previous Dakota County field days.
Then Joshua Stamper, U of M Extension Irrigation Specialist, will talk about advances in technology for irrigation management.
Finally, Dr. Bob Koch, U of M Extension Entomologist, will review scouting recommendations for soybean aphid and discuss management of this pest. He will provide updates on aphid-resistant soybeans, insecticide resistance management, and the State's new water quality best management practices for agricultural insecticides.
