Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Library Looking for Summer Volunteens – teen volunteers!

     Pleasant Hill Library is looking for teen volunteers for the summer. Applicants must be at least 12 years old by June 1st of 2014 and no older than 18.  Volunteers are needed throughout the summer to help at the summer reading registration table and for various programs.  You must be able to work at least 12 hours  total over the summer and be able to attend the training on June 5th from 3:30 to 4:30 after school.  Sign up with your friends and help make the library summer reading program a great success!  Call 651-438-0200 or stop by the library at 1496 Frontage Road, Hastings, with any questions.


Learn E-book Basics at the Library

     Love reading books on your smart phone, tablet or e-reader, but not so crazy about paying for the privilege? Come to the E-book Basics class at the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, June 5th and bring your device or try one of ours. You'll learn how to check out and download free e-books from the Dakota County Library. Bring your iPad or Android device at 10:15am, your Kindle e-reader at 11am or your Nook e-reader at 11:45am and your Dakota County library card.  Learn Email Basics for Building Job Skills at the Library

     Email has become the typical method for business communication, including applying for employment. In this class, you will learn how to set up a free email account, send and receive messages and add attachments. Previous computer experience is required. This class will be taught by an instructor from the Science Museum of Minnesota at the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, June 16th, 6-8pm. Learn How to Transform Books into Handbags at the Library

     Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. for a hands on demonstration on how to turn books into handbags.  Participants will find out how to re-purpose an old hardcover book into a unique  purse.  This class is primarily demonstration—everyone will get a book cover and detailed information to take home.  There is no charge for the event, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at
