Red Wing Bed and Breakfast Holiday Open House To Be Held December 7

It's an opportunity that only comes once a year. On December 7, the bed and breakfasts of Red Wing, along with the St. James Hotel, will open their doors for a glimpse into history.

A holiday open house will be held from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Since 2000, this annual holiday tradition has raised nearly $15,000 to benefit local non-profits. This year's proceeds will support Red Wing Downtown Main Street. This non-profit is dedicated to preserving and protecting the city's downtown and its 19th century red brick and limestone storefronts.

Each inn on the tour displays a unique architectural style, showing off wonderfully preserved old-world craftsmanship from the late 1800s and early 1900s. All inns will be decorated for the holidays, and food will be served at each location. In addition, some local restaurants will be on hand to serve up special dishes at the inns.

Participating establishments include the Candlelight Inn, Golden Lantern Inn, Moondance Inn, Pratt-Taber Inn, Octagon House, and the St. James Hotel. Many of the properties are located within walking distance of each other.

Advance tickets are $12 and may be purchased at a number of Red Wing locations, including the participating properties, many downtown merchants and the Visitor Center at the Red Wing depot. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $15. Participants will have a chance to win two $300 gift certificates toward stays at Red Wing bed and breakfasts.

For additional information regarding the event or ticket purchases, contact the Red Wing Visitors and Convention Bureau at (800) 498-3444.
