Public review period open for Dakota County's Lebanon Hills Regional Park Master Plan

A 60-day public review and comment period for Dakota County's Lebanon Hills Regional Park Master Plan is open until Jan. 18, and the public is invited to weigh in on a variety of plan elements including natural resource restoration projects, improved amenities and trail enhancements.


An open house will be held from 5–7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at the Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley, to give the public a chance to meet with staff, learn more about the plan and provide input in person. Comments may also be offered by email to planning@co.dakota.mn.us, by mail to Dakota County Office of Planning, attn.: Mary Jackson, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley, MN 55124, or by filling out a comment card at the Lebanon Hills Visitor Center, 860 Cliff Road, Eagan.


Highlights of the park's master plan include:

  • Restored landscapes that promote cleaner water and more wildlife
  • 46 miles of natural trails for hiking, mountain biking, skiing and more
  • A 6.5-mile connector and up to 1.5 miles of lake loop trails that are ADA-compliant for providing more recreational activities for all abilities in all seasons
  • Lakeside picnic areas, camper cabins and natural play areas
  • Something for everyone in a natural setting
