JULY CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR PLEASANT HILL LIBRARY

JULY 1:  ART ATTACK. 10:00 am - 3:00 pm. Ages 2-16. Stop by the children's area where plenty of ideas and supplies will be available to create a work of art in this self-directed activity.

JULY 1: PLEASANT HILL BOOK GROUP WILL NOT MEET IN JULY OR AUGUST.

JULY 2:  MOVIES FOR KIDS. 10:30 -11:15 am. Ages 2-6. Enjoy fun children's books in movie format.  Meeting Room.

JULY 8:  G IS FOR GREEN. 10:30 - 11:45 am. Ages 3-5. Stories, rhymes, crafts, and activities based on the color green. A Book Adventure program in partnership with ISD 200 ECFE. Meeting Room. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 9:  RAD ZOO. 10:30 – 11:30 am. All ages. Learn about the lives of frogs, turtles, lizards, snakes, and a small alligator. Get close up to pet some of these unique creatures. Meeting Room.

JULY 10:  STORYTIME FOR BABIES. 11:00 – 11:45 am. Birth – 2 yr. Stories, songs, bounces, and playtime make this storytime perfect for children newborn to 24 months and their caregivers. Meeting Room.

JULY 11:  RIVER WEAVINGS WITH ARTSTART. 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Ages 6-12.  Create river weavings using natural materials, yarns, and other items that capture the beauty of the Mississippi River. Meeting Room. Legacy Program. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 11: LEDUC BOOK GROUP. 6:30 - 7:30 pm. A book group for local history lovers.  Meets at the LeDuc Historic Mansion @ 1629 Vermillion St. This month's book is North River by Pete Hamill.

JULY 15:  MUSICIAN PAUL SPRING. 10:30 – 11:15 am. All ages. A native Minnesotan, Spring writes, performs, and records a unique combination of lyric-driven folk and melodic rock. Meeting Room.

JULY 16:  SCRAPBOOKING MINNESOTA—MY FAMILY TREE. 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Ages 10-16. Bring family photos or just your creative talents to create a frame-worthy family tree. Presented by the Minnesota Historical Society. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 17:  LEGOS & DUPLOS AT THE LIBRARY. 10:30 – 11:30 am. Ages 2-12. Get your imagination working by exploring the many things you can create with Legos at this self-directed activity.

JULY 17:  MAGIC WITH STEPPINGSTONE THEATRE. 2:00 – 3:30 pm. Ages 8-16.  Work with a professional magician to learn how to perform amazing tricks with everyday objects. Meeting Room. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 18:  BEYOND COMPUTER BASICS. 10:15 am – 12:15 pm. This class continues where Computer Basics left off. Learn what's on your computer, how to work with files, folders, printing, and computer maintenance. This class is for PC users. Prerequisite: Computer Basics class and/or ability to use the mouse. Meeting Room. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 18:  STORYTIME FOR ALL AGES. 7:00 – 7:30 pm. Stories and activities ideal for mixed-age audiences. Meeting Room.

JULY 22:  TWINKIE DECORATORS. 2:00 – 4:00  pm. Ages 10-15. Use Twinkies and other ingredients to make a culinary masterpiece. Meeting Room. PREREGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE EVENT.

JULY 23:  WAGGIN' TALES. 11:00 am – 12 noon. Ages 5-10. Bring your kids into the library to read to certified therapy dogs. It's not only fun, but it helps develop reading skills and fluency. Children's Area.

JULY 24:  STORYTIME FOR BABIES. 11:00 – 11:45 am. Birth – 2 yr. Stories, songs, bounces, and playtime make this storytime perfect for children newborn to 24 months and their caregivers. Meeting Room.

JULY 25:  BILL THE JUGGLER. 10:30 – 11:15 am. Laughter abounds at this comedy juggling program filled with audience participation and an emphasis on reading. Meeting Room.

JULY 25: CRAFT FAIR. 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Ages 4-16. Sign up to sell handicrafts at the library. All items must be priced at $2 or less. Held outdoors in front of library. MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE—FORMS AVAILABLE AT PLEASANT HILL.

JULY 29:  STUFFED ANIMAL ADVENTURE. 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Ages 2-6. Come for storytime and bring your teddy bear, too. Then leave "Teddy" for a sleepover at the library. Pick "Teddy" up the next morning and see what adventures he had!

JULY 31:  MAKE & TAKE—PAPER BAG PUPPETS. 10:30 – 11:30 am. Ages 2-12. Come anytime and use our construction paper, feathers, and other art supplies to create paper bag and stick puppets to take home.
