Family & Friends Fun Days planned at Dakota City

Guided tours of Dakota City Heritage Village will be offered to the public at Family and Friends Fun Days, scheduled on three separate Fridays throughout the summer -- June 14, July 12 and Aug. 23.

Alisa Peterson, Education Coordinator, invites visitors to bring a friend, their children, nieces or nephews, grandkids, a friend or a friend's children to enjoy a visit to the past. They do not need to be part of a group nor do they need a reservation.

Costumed guides will lead the tours, which will begin every hour on the hour starting at 10 a.m. The last tour will begin at 2 p.m. Each tour will last 90 minutes and will include stops in several buildings where costumed demonstrators will provide information and answer questions. Visitors also can stroll through the museum and view horse-drawn buggies, farm machinery and displays depicting "the good old days." Peterson suggests bringing a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds.

Tickets, which will cost $5 per person for ages three and up, will be available in the Dakota City office in Ahlberg Hall. A treat from the gift shop will be included in the ticket price.

Dakota City is located at 4008-220th St. W. on the fairgrounds in Farmington. For information, visit the village's web site at or call Dakota City at 651-460-8050.
