Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Computer Class at the Library
     The Pleasant Hill Library is offering a free computer class, called Computer Basics in June.  If you have little or no experience with computers, this class is for you. Learn the parts and uses of a home computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, and become familiar with basic computer terminology. You will also be introduced to working with windows and toolbar menus. This class is for PC users. Prerequisite: None. This class will be on Thursday, June 20th, 2013, from 10:15am-12:15pm, at the Pleasant Hill Library. Registration is required. Learn to Swordfight From Professional Actors at the Library
     Kids age 9 to 16 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. for an acting class hosted by Steppingstone Theatre.  Kids will learn the art of sword fighting, mock brawls, falls, combat safety and more.  They will create battle scenes which they can act out.  This is a Minnesota Legacy Program.  There is no charge for the event, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library
                                                                                                
Discover What it Takes to Camp in the Boundary Waters at the Library
     Area residents interested in learning new skills about camping in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, June 22 at 11 am for a discussion lead by local author and BWCA expert Cliff Jacobson.  Jacobson will discuss how to choose essential gear for the trip, how to stay dry in the rain, and other skills required for a successful camping trip.  Jacobson is the author of Boundary Waters Canoe Camping.  There will be books available for sale, and for signing. 
                                                                                                                   
Reading With Horsepower at the Library
     Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m.  for a morning filled with horse stories and the opportunity to meet a real miniature horse.  Parents are encouraged to bring cameras to take photos of their children with the miniature horse.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.  For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200. 
                                                                                                                
Bedtime Story Time at the Library
     Children of all ages and their families are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. for a return of Bedtime Story time.  Children and their caregivers will enjoy an evening of stories and activities.  Children may wear their pajamas to the story time, if they wish. 
                                                                                                                                  
Newbridge Theatre Performs Shakespeare at the Library
       Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, June 29 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a special Shakespeare performance.  Actors from the local theater troupe, Newbridge, will perform scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream.  This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting.  Audience members should bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic treats to enjoy the comedy performance.  Everyone will be able to meet with the actors following the show.  Children are encouraged to wear fairy costumes to the show.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.
