Upcoming Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Computer Classes at the Library
     The library is offering a set of free adult computer classes in June.  There is no charge for any of the classes, however, registration is required.  For questions regarding the computer classes, call the library at 651-438-0200. 
 
Microsoft Excel Basics for Building Job Skills, part One
     Excel is used in the workplace for accounting, tracking inventory and organizing data. Learn how to work with spreadsheets, create formulas and build a budget. Presented by the Science Museum of Minnesota Computer Education Center, funded by MELSA. Prerequisite: Ability to use the keyboard and mouse. This class will be on Thursday, June 6th, from 10:15am-12:15pm. Registration is required and begins Thursday, May 23rd. You may register online or in person, or call the library at 651-438-0200.
 
Computer Basics
     If you have little or no experience with computers, this class is for you. Learn the parts and uses of a home computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, and become familiar with basic computer terminology. You will also be introduced to working with windows and toolbar menus. This class is for PC users. Prerequisite: None. This class will be on Thursday, June 20th, 2013, from 10:15am-12:15pm, at the Pleasant Hill Library. Registration is required and begins on Thursday, June 6th. You may register online or in person or by calling the library at 651-438-0200.

Root Beer Float Party Kicks off Summer Reading Program at the Library
     Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, June 11th, for the Root Beer Float party that officially starts the Summer Reading Program at the library.  There are two parties for the day.  The first party is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.  The evening party is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.  Children will enjoy floats, crafts, games and activities.  They will also be able to sign up for the reading program. 

Baby Story Time at the Library
     Babies age newborn to 2 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library, along with their parents or caregivers, on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:45 a.m. for a special story time geared for the youngsters.  Babies will enjoy a morning of stories, songs, bounces, and playtime.  There is no charge for the program, and registration is not required. 

Discover Dinosaurs at the Library
     Children age 4 to 10 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. for a morning filled with learning about dinosaur facts.  Children will discover where dinosaurs lived, how they hatched, how large they were, what they ate, and what they may have sounded like from science teacher Rob Ellos.  Children will also have a chance to look at real dinosaur fossils.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.
