Dakota County Library kicking off Bookawocky Summer Reading Experience in June

Summer reading at Dakota County Library will have kids and teens unable to tear themselves away from their favorite books during the next few months.

Starting June 8 at any Dakota County Library branch, kids and teens entering grade 12 and younger can sign up for the Bookawocky Summer Reading Experience.

Upon signing up, kids in grade 6 and younger will receive a game card of 12 activities. By completing at least 10 of the activities, they'll earn a free book. Additionally, for every book they read between June 8 and Aug. 17, kids can write or draw book reviews for a chance to win additional prizes, including a family membership to a local zoo or museum.

When teens entering grades 7–12 sign up, they'll receive one free ticket to a teen takeover event at Cascade Bay Waterpark in Eagan on Thursday, June 20. Teens will also be eligible to win books, gift cards and an iPod Touch by submitting book reviews through Aug. 17.

Bookawocky participants can take their reading experience online, as well. By visiting www.bookawocky.org, they can earn virtual badges, create booklists and more.
