Dakota County seeks help diverting organic waste

In the hopes of diverting 4–8 percent of organic waste from area landfills by 2020, Dakota County is asking for ideas on how best to achieve that goal.
The County will accept letters of interest from the following groups or businesses serving Dakota County:
·         Commercial or institutional food service or food waste generators
·         Not-for-profit organizations involved in food recovery or waste reduction
·         Local units of government
·         Licensed waste haulers
·         Licensed waste facility owners or operators
Ideas will be used to help determine the direction of the County's organics program and possible funding priorities in the future. Interested respondents should submit a letter no more than two pages long to environmental specialist Steve Pincuspy at or Dakota County Western Service Center, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley, MN 55124. Submissions will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, May 17.
For more information about the request, format or sample projects, visit and search Organics Diversion Projects.
