Free Adult Computer Classes at the Library
Computer Basics

Whether you just got your first computer for Christmas, you've had one for a while and just can't get the hang of it, or everyone says you should get one but you want to learn about it before you take the plunge, the Computer Basics  class is for you. You'll learn the parts and uses of a home computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard and become familiar with basic computer terminology. You'll also be introduced to working with windows and toolbars. This class is for PC users running Windows 7. The class, on Thursday, January 17th  at 1:15 a.m. is free, but registration is required.  Please call the Pleasant Hill Library at 651-438-0200.

Resume' Rescue

Creating an effective resume is more important than ever during tough economic times.  Learn how to use a resume'  to show a potential employer  your value. Topics covered include formatting, styles, common mistakes, do's and don'ts and more. Taught by Dakota County Workforce Center staff, the Resume' Rescue class will be held Friday, January 25th at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Library. The class is free, but registration is required. Learn How to Grow Your Wealth at the Library
     Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, January 9th at 6:30 p.m. for a special presentation about building wealth.   Communication is a key component in money management.  This presentation will teach helpful skills in teaching family members about money and how to best navigate family financial decisions.  This presentation is sponsored by FINRA, an investor education foundation.  There is no charge for the seminar, however, registration is required.  To register, visit the library website at or call the library at 651-438-0200. 
Learn about the History of the Railroads in Hastings at the Library
     No matter if you are a hard-core rail fan or a person who just likes trains; you will enjoy spending the evening with railroad enthusiast Charles B. McCreary.  McCrary will speak at the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, January 14th at 6 p.m.  He will share stories and pictures from his book, Train Pictures, A Railfan's Memoir.  One lucky audience member will receive a signed copy of his book as a special give-away door prize.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 

Children Invited to the Library to Read to a Pooch
     Children age 5 to 10 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, January 18th at 11 a.m. to read to Kippy, the Dachshund.  Kippy is a Certified Therapy dog.  Kippy helps kids improve their literacy skills by listening to kids read their favorite stories.  Reading sessions last about 10 to 15 minutes.  Children may bring their own favorite book from home, or choose one at the library.  There is no charge for the program, and no registration is required.
