Calendar listings from the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Computer Classes for Adults at the Library
           Adults interested in learning about how to use a computer are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, October 11 at 10 a.m. for a free class onComputer Basics.    If you have little or no experience with computers, this class is for you. Learn the parts and uses of a home computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, and become familiar with basic computer terminology. You will also be introduced to working with windows and toolbar menus. This class is for PC users.  There is no charge for the event, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.  Registration begins two weeks prior to the class.
 
     Adults interested in learning how to use the computer to study family history on the Internet are invited to the library on Wednesday, October 17 at 2 p.m. for a free class on Family History on the Internet.  Students will explore the world of Internet genealogy, discover some of the best genealogy websites and learn to use Ancestry Library Edition free at the library. Students should have basic Internet knowledge.  There is no charge for the class, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.  Registration begins two weeks in advance of the class. 

Story Times at the Library
Story time for Babies at the Library
     Babies age birth to 2 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, October 15th   at 10:45 a.m. for a special baby story time.  Babies will participate in stories, songs, bounces, and playtime activities geared for the age group.  There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 
Story Time for Toddlers
     Toddlers age 2 to 3 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m. for a toddler story time.  Toddlers will  hear stories, rhymes, songs, and activities selected to entertain and develop early literacy skills.  There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 
Story Time for Preschoolers
     Preschool children age 4, 5, and 6 are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, October 17th at 10:30 a.m. for a preschool story time.  Preschoolers will read books, listen to songs, and participate in creative movement activities during story time.  There will also be a craft activity at the end of story time. There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 

Library Programs during MEA Break
Spider Program at the Library on Thursday
     Children age 3-12 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, October 18th at 10:30 a.m. for a special program about Spiders.  This event is presented by Abrakodoodle.  Children will learn about color, mixing, and sculpting to build a scary or silly clay spider.  This event is free, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.                                                                                                         
Family Games at the Library on Friday
     Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, October 19th, at 10:30 a.m. for a morning filled with favorite games.  Bring the whole family to play games like Uno, Sorry, Twister and more.  There is no cost for the event, and no registration is required. 
  
Meet North Pole Explorer at the Library
     Hastings area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, October 20 at 11 a.m. to hear a presentation from polar explorer John Huston, the first American to travel unsupported to the North Pole.  People will learn about his 55-day trek with temperatures reaching the minus 60 degrees mark and see some of his equipment.  There is no charge for this event, and no registration is required.
