Calendar listings from the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Computer Classes for Adults at the LibraryAdults interested in learning about how to use a computer are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, October 11 at 10 a.m. for a free class onComputer Basics.    If you have little or no experience with computers, this class is for you. Learn the parts and uses of a home computer, how to use the mouse and keyboard, and become familiar with basic computer terminology. You will also be introduced to working with windows and toolbar menus. This class is for PC users.  There is no charge for the event, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.  Registration begins two weeks prior to the class.
 

Adults interested in learning how to use the computer to study family history on the Internet are invited to the library on Wednesday, October 17 at 2 p.m. for a free class on Family History on the Internet.  Students will explore the world of Internet genealogy, discover some of the best genealogy websites and learn to use Ancestry Library Edition free at the library. Students should have basic Internet knowledge.  There is no charge for the class, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.  Registration begins two weeks in advance of the class. 

New York Times Bestselling Author Mary Janice Davidson Visits Hastings Library
 
The Pleasant Hill Library is thrilled to announce that Hasting's very own New York Time's bestselling author, Mary Janice Davidson, will be giving an author talk and book signing on Monday October 8th from 6 to 7 p.m. in our meeting room.  MJ has been credited with starting the very popular chick paranormal romance genre.  Her very popular vampire series, Undead, started when Undead and Unwed was released in 2004 and the latest in that series, Undead and Unstable just came out this year to continued raves from her fans.  She also has a number of other paranormal series including: Fred the Mermaid Trilogyand the young adult series starring Jennifer Scales, the weredragon!  All are welcome to attend the event, whether you are a longtime fan or just curious about how someone starts writing vampire romance! Come early to get a good seat and for chances to win door prizes.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 

Story Times at the Library
 
Story time for Babies at the Library
     Babies age birth to 2 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, October 8th   at 10:45 a.m. for a special baby story time.  Babies will participate in stories, songs, bounces, and playtime activities geared for the age group.  There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 
Story Time for Toddlers
     Toddlers age 2 to 3 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, October 9th at 10:30 a.m. for a toddler story time.  Toddlers will  hear stories, rhymes, songs, and activities selected to entertain and develop early literacy skills.  There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 
Story Time for Preschoolers
     Preschool children age 4, 5, and 6 are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, October 10th at 10:30 a.m. for a preschool story time.  Preschoolers will read books, listen to songs, and participate in creative movement activities during story time.  There will also be a craft activity at the end of story time. There is no charge, nor any registration requirements for the program. 

Master Gardener to Visit the Pleasant Hill Library
     Master Gardener Dean Davis will speak at the Pleasant Hill Library on October 6 at 11 a.m. to let people know the best ways to put their garden to bed for the winter.  Dean Davis is a Dakota County Master Gardner who has taught many gardening classes around the metro area.   His home garden has been featured in the Apple Valley parade of gardens.  This class is free and open to anyone of any gardening ability.
