Press releases for the week from the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Computer Class offered at the Library
There is no charge for the class, but due to limited seating, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the Dakota County website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.   Adults interested in learning more about using the Excel program are invited to a class at the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, September 7 at 6 p.m.   The class will run approximately two hours.  Excel is used in the workplace for accounting, tracking inventory, and organizing data.  Students will learn how to work with spread sheets, create formulas and build a budget.  This class is presented by the Science Museum of Minnesota Computer Education Center, and funded by the Metropolitan Library Service Agency. 
                                                                                        
Story Times Scheduled for Toddlers and PreschoolersChildren are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library for a series of age appropriate story times this week. Story times are a fabulous way for parents and caregivers to instill a love of books and to develop early literacy skills in young children.  The theme for the story times is Babies. On Tuesday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m., toddlers age two to three years old are invited to the library for stories, rhymes, songs and activities. On Wednesday, September 7 at 10:30 a.m., preschoolers age four to six years old are invited to the library for their own story time promoting books, music and movement to help build language and listening skills.  A craft time follows the preschool story time. There is no charge for any of the story times offered by the library, and new children are always welcome to attend.  There is no registration for the story time activities.  For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200.
 
Le Duc Book Group Meets September First
The Le Duc Book group is scheduled to meet Thursday, September 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Le Duc Historic Estate.  The group will discuss the book A Death in Belmont by Sebastian Junger.  This book group is a partnership between the Pleasant Hill Library and Dakota County Historical Society.  The group is always looking for new members.  Books are available for check out at the Hastings Library.  For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200.
