Indie rock band plays Teen Takeover at Dakota County Library Aug. 13

The Detroit band, The High Strung, will play exclusively for teens who have joined the Teen Summer Reading Club at the Galaxie Library in Apple Valley on Aug. 13 from 6–9:30 p.m. They’ve appeared on MTV and been featured in Entertainment Weekly, Magnet, Harp, and Spin magazines.

Described as “personal,” “psychoanalytical,” “psychedelic,” “geeky in a cool way,” and even “a little bizarre,” their music is a mix of indie and classic rock.

The Teen Takeover, which marks the end of the library’s Summer Reading Program, will also include food, games, henna tattoos and crafts.

Teens ages 12–18 who join the reading program at any Dakota County Library will receive a permission slip to attend. These must be signed by a parent and tuned in to the library by Aug. 10.
