Trails by Candlelight will illuminate Dakota County’s Lebanon Hills

More than 1,500 luminaries will light the way for nighttime entertainment as Dakota County Parks hosts its 10th annual Trails by Candlelight event Saturday, Feb. 13 from 6–9 p.m. at the Visitor Center at Lebanon Hills Regional Park, 860 Cliff Road, Eagan.

The event features candlelit hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails in addition to an illuminated sledding hill. Cross-country skis and snowshoes will be available for rent, but guests should bring their own sleds. Due to poor ice conditions, there will be no ice skating available.

To thaw out between winter activities, event-goers can relax beside any of the nine bonfires that will be burning throughout the evening. Kabomelette and Bacon-Me-Crazy food trucks will have concessions available for purchase.

Cost for the event is $8 per person if pre-registered by Feb. 12, $10 per person at the door and free for children age 5 and younger.

Lebanon Hills will have free on-site parking. There will also be free off-site parking at Woodcrest Church, 525 Cliff Road, Eagan, with a complimentary shuttle to the park starting at 5:45 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help light candles prior to the event, tend bonfires, greet attendees and perform other tasks during the event. Volunteers receive free admission and dinner from one of the food trucks. To learn more about volunteering, go to www.dakotacounty.us/parks and search volunteer.
