Armstrong Boulevard/Highway 10 Interchange opens in Ramsey

The new Armstrong Boulevard (Anoka County Road 83) interchange at Highway 10 in Ramsey opened to traffic Thursday, December 31, 2015. With the interchange opening, the median crossover from westbound Highway 10 to Traprock Street was permanently closed.

The new interchange features two new bridges. The bridges carry Armstrong Boulevard traffic across Highway 10 and the BNSF Railroad to provide safer, more convenient access between Armstrong Boulevard and Highway 10. In addition, congestion and delays due to railroad traffic will be substantially reduced.

Final improvements to the interchange will be completed next spring. They include sidewalks on the bridge across Highway 10, along with landscaping and other design features. A formal dedication ceremony is being planned for this spring as well.

MnDOT and Anoka County, along with the cities of Ramsey and Anoka, identified the Armstrong Boulevard Interchange as one of more than 20 small projects to improve safety and operations along the Highway 10 Corridor. The proposed improvements for Highway 10 would achieve 90% of both the safety and operational benefits of a freeway, at less than 50% of the cost.
