Yellow Ribbon Community Gathering

Employment, Support, Recognition, Higher Education Empowering Veterans to Achieve a Higher Quality of Life

January is the time that we have a quarterly community gathering to discuss issues and successes that support service members, veterans, families and the community. Only three are held throughout the year, January, April and October on the second Thursday

On Thursday, 14 January 2016, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon-Hastings will join forces with experts from the United States Department of Labor, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, Employer Support for the Guard and Reserves, and local higher education institutions. This will be a table talk discussion at the Nelson Lucking American Legion Post 47, 50 Sibley, Hastings. Social hour at 6:00 PM, discussion and should not last longer than 90 minutes, unless further continuance is desired. following
.
This is not limited to veterans and residents of the Hastings community. Invitees are area Military, Veterans, Families and Community; Chamber of Commerce members; Businesses; Yellow Ribbon Networks; Unemployed, Dislocated, Underemployed and Discouraged Workers.
The purpose of this talk is to provide knowledge about jobs, opportunities to obtain skills, credentials, resources and support needed to foster, promote, develop the welfare of wage earners, job seekers, advance opportunities for profitable employment and work-related benefits and topics.

For years, it's been no secret that unemployment rates was usually high, but today it has crossed the the threshold to the lowest point in seven years..Veterans have been stronger than the civilian population. This is great news and there are a variety of connectors that have contributed to this success that usher in jobs like the services of the experts named above.

Employers have heard that veterans make great employees that are loyal and committed. Post 9/11 veterans were the biggest at-risk groups for unemployment with few job prospects. but a wide variety of resources, agencies and support groups have stepped up to engage the mission. Every need of the veteran/job seekers are addressed and every question answered. Experience and education allows navigation of an unfamiliar setting finding footing and starting their own companies
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon invites local and regional businesses to attend this employment and education fair to reach out to local veterans and military families with job opportunity, support and higher educational information.. If your business is able to participate, please contact Dean Markuson, Director of BTYR-Hastings, to ensure your table at this event. Participation is free for both businesses and attendees.
