In good form

Dakota County homeowners can now apply for homestead property status from the comfort of their homes by using the new Online Homestead Application.

Homeowners may apply for homestead status after they have purchased their property. The program reduces property taxes for owners who use the home as their primary residence.

The online process is safe and secure, using bank-grade security encryption to protect confidential data. After electronically signing and submitting the application, the applicant will receive a confirmation email, letting them know the application has been submitted to the County.

Each year, Dakota County Assessing Services process more than 7,000 homestead applications. The new online application process will provide a convenient option for homeowners and cut down on the time needed to process paper forms.
