Dakota County seeking volunteers to help instruct on recycling at Dakota County Fair

Dakota County Environmental Resources and the Dakota County Fair are taking steps to recycle more waste and are in need of volunteers to help out.

For the second year in a row at the fair, organic materials like food scraps and related paper products will be collected in food vendor areas and later taken to a local facility for composting. Participation was admirable last year, but we're looking to improve collection efforts for 2015.

Volunteers are needed at waste stations throughout the fairgrounds to help instruct the public on what to recycle and highlight why recycling is important. Training is provided. Volunteers get free admission to the fair on the day of their shift. The 2015 Dakota County Fair is held Aug. 10–16 at the fairgrounds, 4008 220th St. W., Farmington.
