International Finals Youth Rodeo Registration Open Now

Participant registration for the International Finals Youth Rodeo is now open online at IFYR.comand spots are filling quickly. Offering more than $200,000 in prize money, the 23rd annual IFYR is July 5-10 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in ShawneeOkla.
 
Registration can be completed online only at IFYR.com and will close on or before June 19 once all event spots are filled. More than 500 contestants have already registered. To meet IFYR age requirements, participants must have completed their ninth grade year of high school and cannot have turned 19 on or before Aug. 1 of the current school year.
 
"The International Finals Youth Rodeo brings together the Shawnee community and rodeo families from all over the nation to celebrate young rodeo athletes," said Michael Jackson, operations manager of Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center and International Finals Youth Rodeo. "It's an exciting opportunity for high school students to compete at a professional level and have a chance to win a large prize purse, plus championship saddles and buckles."
 
The IFYR consists of two long go-rounds and a short go. All contestants compete once in each of the long go-rounds. The top 15 averages in each event will compete Friday night in the championship round short go for fame and prizes. Events include barrel racing, pole bending, breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, saddle bronc riding and bareback riding. Events run simultaneously in three arenas throughout the week. 
 
The International Finals Youth Rodeo, founded in 1993, is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that presents top high school athletes with a professional rodeo. The internationally-recognized IFYR is held annually at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee. In 2014, more than 1,000 contestants and their families traveled from 32 states as well as Brazil, Canada and Australia to participate in the IFYR.
