Dakota County Library celebrates 19th year of hosting Minnesota Mosaic®

Dakota County Library celebrates its 19th year of hosting the culturally rich and artistically diverse Minnesota Mosaic® Cultural Arts series, complete with local artists, award-winning authors, environmentally-friendly programs and more. The series highlights the state's vibrant culture and the heritage of Minnesota's population with the following programs:
 
Artist Wendy J. Johnson
Textile artist and educator Wendy J. Johnson will present her book, Yarn Works: How to Spin, Dye, and Knit Your Own Yarn. Learn the history and science behind fiber art and about how to craft your own yarn. Johnson will sell and sign her book.

Beauty of Japanese Paper Art
Fold it, cut it and paste it. Learn three simple Japanese paper art techniques to create greeting cards and bookmarks. Presented by the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. A Minnesota Legacy program. Registration required.

Developing Your Own Photography Angle

Meet Larry Schneiderman, author of The Call of the Couch: A Family's Love Affair with Its Business.
For the first time, Schneiderman opens the doors to his family's showroom and shares an insider's view of this local success story.

Hand It Down: Textile Preservation in a Nutshell
Save a piece of history. Learn simple tips to store, clean, frame and care for your one-of-a-kind quilt, embroidered hanky or baby dress to pass along to the next generation. A Minnesota Legacy program.

Artist Guillermo Cuellar
Meet and explore the interesting life and pottery of Guillermo Cuellar, a local potter featured in the "Minnesota Potters Sharing the Fire" documentary.

Author Lorna Landvik
Meet Lorna Landvik, comedian, actor, playwright and bestselling author of 10 novels. Landvik will read from her latest novel Best to Laugh and will sell and sign copies of many of her books.

The Fascinating Honeybee
Explore the fascinating world of honeybees with local award-winning beekeeper Terry McDaniel. McDaniel will present a self-produced video about how important honeybees are as pollinators and the problems they are currently facing.
