Open houses planned to gather public input on Cedar Avenue

The Dakota County Regional Railroad Authority and its partner agencies are undertaking a comprehensive review of transit service along Cedar Avenue.

The Cedar Avenue Transitway Implementation Plan Update is a yearlong study projected to conclude in August 2015. Its purpose is to review existing transit service and facilities — including the 11-mile bus rapid transit line along Cedar Avenue — as well as review and update the planned future phases of transit investment to reflect the region's growth and change. The Implementation Plan Update will include an assessment of future transit station locations, where buses will run on the roadway, potential local bus service improvements, estimated costs for planned transit operating and capital investments, and future estimated ridership. The outcome of the assessment will be an updated plan that prioritizes future transit investment in the Cedar Avenue Transitway.

Two open houses are planned for February to gather input from any interested parties on the project. Staff will be available to discuss the plan, and input is welcome on existing and future transit needs in the Cedar Avenue Transitway.
