Events at Pleasant Hill Library

Story Time for all Ages at the Library
Children age 0-6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, January 21 at 10:30 a.m. for a fun-filled story time.  This program will feature stories and activities ideal for mixed-ages audiences such as child care groups and families.  Story time is free; no registration is required.
 
Build a Fankentoy at the Library
Kids age 10 to 16 are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, January 15 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for a program calledFrankentoys. Kids will use broken toys to reengineer new wild and beautiful creations.  Kids may bring their broken toys from home or use a selection of pieces available at the library.  The program is free; no registration is required.

Learn the Basics of an iPad at the Library
Area adults are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, January 22 from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.  to learn the basics of using an iPad.  Participants will use the library iPads to learn about basic controls, settings, web browsing, apps and uses of this popular tablet.  The class is free but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.  Registration opens January 8. 

Sing Play Learn with MacPhail at the Library
Children age 0 to 5 are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, January 26 at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy the magic of music and play with MacPhail Center for Music's early childhood music specialists.  Children and adults both will experience music's impact on learning and reading readiness.  The program is free, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.  Registration opens January 12. 

Learn to Write Cover Letters and Thank You Notes at the Library
Area adults are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, January 30 at 2 p.m. for a class that will teach participants how to effectively write cover letters and thank you notes.  Participants will learn what you really need to include to get the employer's attention, the difference between a mailed and an emailed letter or note, when and how to follow-up, and proper email etiquette to effectively communicate with employers.  This class is taught by Dakota County Workforce Center staff.  The program is free, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website atwww.dakotacounty.us/library.  Registration opens January 16. 

Learn About MNsure at the Library
Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, January 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. to learn about MNsure.  MNsure is the one-stop health insurance marketplace where Minnesotans can compare plans and choose from a variety of health insurance options.  Participants will meet with a Certified Application Counselor to help them set up an account.  The program is free, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.  Registration opens January 16. 

Learn About Fermentation at the Library
Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, January 26 at 6 p.m. to learn about fermentation.  Participants will learn ways to return to Grandma's methods, learn about the history of fermentation, and discover why this process of food preparation is popular again.  Participants will learn basic recipes, food safety and regulations for marketing fermented foods by the University of Minnesota instructor Joellen Feirtag.   This is a free class and no registration is required.
