Dakota County Library's Teen Short Story Contest now open

A picture is worth a thousand words. Teens can showcase their writing skills by viewing a picture and writing a short story — 1,000 words or less — about what's going on in the picture to win prizes. Dakota County Library's annual Teen Short Story Contest lasts until Oct. 31 and is open to teens 12–18 years old who live or attend school in Dakota County.

The photo can be found in the Library's Fall Program Guide or online at www.dakotacounty.us/library, search short story. Contest rules and an entry form are available online or at any Library branch. Entries can be submitted to any Library location or via email to Julia.carlis@co.dakota.mn.us by midnight Friday, Oct. 31.

Six winners between two age categories will be announced during the week of Nov. 15. Each winner will receive prizes courtesy of the Dakota County Library Foundation. Winning entries will also be published on the Library's web page.

For more information, visit www.dakotacounty.us/library and search short story.
