Dakota County Library hosting two celebrations for Farmington Library grand reopening

Dakota County Library is hosting two separate celebrations to recognize the reopening of Farmington Library, 508 Third St., Farmington, which recently wrapped up renovations.

 

A grand reopening celebration will be held from 4–5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2. It will include refreshments and music from local bluegrass group Long Time Gone. Remarks about the remodel will be made at 4:30 p.m.

 

An entire day of activities is planned as part of a special family day celebration from 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Activities include Waggin' Tales from 10:30–11:30 a.m., a craft table and face painting from 11 a.m.–1 p.m., music from Long Time Gone from 1–2 p.m., a teen demonstration of Sphero from 2–4 p.m., and a Farmington gymnastics demonstration from 3–4 p.m.

 

During its remodel, Farmington Library received improvements that include a new children's interactive area, computer center, self-service check-out, one-stop service desk and automated book drop. The location also boasts new meeting and study spaces.
