Farmington Library will close Aug. 23, reopen in home location Sept. 2

he temporary location of Farmington Library at Farmington City Hall will close Saturday, Aug. 23, as Dakota County staff prepares to relocate services back to the library's home location at 508 Third St., Farmington. The Library will open at its home location on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at noon.

While the home location was being remodeled, the library was operating out of Farmington City Hall. Improvements to the home location include 3,500 square feet of new library space, new study rooms, a small group meeting room, a larger children's section with farm-themed play area, an increase of public computers with Internet capability, a one-stop service desk, a new automated book drop, a 12-laptop computer lab available for Library programs, and self-service checkout systems. The automated book drop will be working as the Library relocates, and patrons are asked to use it to drop their books at the 508 Third St. location.

Dakota County residents who would like to sign up for a library card while Farmington Library is relocating can do so at the following events:

  • 5:30–7:30 p.m. Aug. 26 at Gateway Academy Open House, 510 Walnut St.
  • 2:30–6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Farmington Farmers' Market, Third Street
