Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Free Adult Computer Class at the Library

     If you know nothing about computers but would like to learn, if only to keep up with the kids and grandkids, the Pleasant Hill Library is holding a Computer Basics class on Wednesday, August 13th from 2 to 4 pm. You'll learn the parts of the computer, how to use a mouse, and the many fun and increasingly useful things you can do with a computer. Space is limited to ten people. Call the library to register at 651-438-0200.


Kids Invited to the Library to Watch Movies

     Children age 2 to 6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy a selection of children's books in movie format.  Movies include: How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?; Bugs Bugs Bugs; Giraffes Don't Dance and Edwina: The Dinosaur .  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 


Paperbacks and Popcorn at the Library

     Teens age 11 to 14 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library  on Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m. to participate in an informal  book discussion group.  Teens will have the chance to talk to other teens about the books they are reading  and learn about the great books others are reading.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 

 

Hear Author Ruth Degen Discuss her Book Growing Up Gerten

     Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, August 14 at 6 p.m. to listen to a presentation by author Ruth Degen.  Degen will discuss her book Growing up Gerten.  This book portrays the local grower's family history, their genius, entrepreneurship, camaraderie and tireless efforts.. It also illuminates 150 years of farms and families.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 


Rosie the Clown Performs at Pleasant Hill Library

     Everyone's favorite local entertainer, Rosie the Clown, will appear at the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, August 15 at 10:30 a.m.  People are encouraged to bring the entire family to enjoy Rosie's comedy, costumes, and clowning around.  Rosie will create special balloon figures for several lucky children.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 


Author Colleen Baldrica Visits the Hastings Library

     Colleen Baldrica, author of the book Tree Spirited Woman, will speak at the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, August 18 at 6 p.m. Baldrica will discuss her book, as well as the writing and publishing process.  She will discuss her experience of embarking on a personal journey of spiritual awakening and life enrichment.  Written as a narrative, Tree Spirited Woman takes the reader through one woman's intimate transformation from the death of her grandmother to the establishment of a new and guiding friendship with a wise and mystical woman.  With Tree Spirited Woman as her guide, she learns to "let go and trust" in love, personal relationships and ultimately, death. Anyone interested in writing a novel or getting material published is encouraged to attend the presentation and discussion.  There is no charge for the program, and no registration is required.  This event is sponsored by the Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council.
