Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Children Invited to Register for Craft Fair at the Library
Children age 4 to 16 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library to register to be a part of this summer's Pleasant Hill Library Craft Fair. The craft fair will be held Tuesday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All crafts must be hand made and p riced at $2 or less per item. Story time at the Library
Children age 2 to 6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. for a story time session. Story teller extraodinaire Miss Maureen C. will be the featured guest. She will read from her favorite books. Children will listen to a variety of stories and follow up with a craft-making session. This event is appropriate for families as well as for childcare groups. There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.

Children Invited to Take a Journey to Africa at the Library
Children age 4 to 12 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. to experience a Journey Through Africa, without ever leaving Hastings! Children will go on an African safari to discover the continent's vast diversity. They will meet African plants and animals, learn to count in Swahili, and make an African mask. They will also hear the story of The Greedy Zebra, by Mwenye Hadithi.

Preschool Story time/Craft Time at the Library
Children age 3 to 5 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, July 10 at 10:30 a.m. for a special program called "N is for Nature." Children will participate in stories, songs, craft activities and games based on nature. This event is co-sponsored by Hastings ECFE. There is no charge for the program, but registration is required. Kids Invited to Read to a Dog at the Library
Children age 5-10 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. to read to Kippy, the Dachshund. Kippy is a certified therapy dog. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to this program, called Waggin Tales, not only because it is fun, but because it helps develop reading skills and fluency. Children may bring a book from home, or choose one from the library collection.

Local Author to Speak at the Library
Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. to listen to a presentation by local novelist, playwright, poet and librettist Marisha Chamberlain. Chamberlain is author of the book, The Rose Variations and the play Scheherazade. This event is sponsored by the Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council. There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.
