Dakota County Fleet Management wins Outstanding Achievement award at 2014 Fleet Excellence Awards

Dakota County Fleet Management won the Outstanding Achievement in Public Fleet Management Award at the 2014 Fleet Excellence Awards held April 8 in Minneapolis. The awards are presented by the NAFA Fleet Management Association.

In the past year, Dakota County Fleet Management's Capital Equipment Program has saved more than $250,000 by reducing its fleet by 23 units and rightsizing eight units. It was also able to add seven units at a cost of about $685,000 — 99 percent of which was funded by grants and other programs.

In addition to its success saving money, Fleet also saw a successful year of its telematics program. The program, which was expanded from 70 to 209 units in 2013, achieved an mpg increase of 9.5 percent, a harsh acceleration reduction of 56.5 percent and a harsh turns reduction of 68.6 percent.

Dakota County Fleet Management's professional staff development includes achieving the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence repair facility designation with 51 certifications in less than one year.

The annual Fleet Excellence Awards are intended to shine a spotlight on those who impact fleet in both the corporate and public fleet segments. The competition is open to entire United States and Canada.
