Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Poetry Contest at Dakota County Libraries

Spring means poetry at the Library. Haiku, free verse, odes and sonnets—whatever your poetry style we invite you to enter our Poetry Contest to showcase your talents. Poets of all ages are encouraged to submit original poems from April 1–30. Complete an entry form online or pick one up at any Dakota County Library location. Call the library for more information at 651-438-0200 or stop by 1490 S. Frontage Rd, Hastings.

Learn Cut, Copy, Paste Computer Skills at the Library

One of the many advantages of using a computer to compose text is that it's so easy to make changes! In this class, you will learn how to edit your documents using the magic of cutting, copying and pasting words, sentences or even whole paragraphs. We will be using Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer, so a basic knowledge of these and the computer will be required. Come to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, April 17th, at 10:15 am for our Cut, Copy, Paste class. Space is limited, so please call the library at 651-438-1200 to register.

Kids Invited to Read to a Dog at the Library

Children age 5-10 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, April 26 at 11 a.m. to read to Kippy, the certified therapy dog.  Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to this program, called Waggin Tales,  not only because it is fun, but because it helps develop reading skills and fluency.  Children may bring a book from home, or choose one from the library collection.

Children Invited to Library Movie Day at the Library

Children age 2-6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, April 30 at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy a selection of short movies.  Movies include; In the Small, Small Pond, Inch by Inch, Bear Wants More, Children Make Terrible Pets

There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.
