Program notices from the Pleasant Hill Library

Learn to use Your Nook, Kindle, iPad and Android at the Library

     Confused about electronic book readers?  Come to the library in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 19 to get a basic understanding of the materials for electronic book readers available from Dakota County. People will receive instruction on searching and downloading from OverDrive and the 3M Cloud as well as basic information on transferring e-books to hand-held reading devices.  Class times for each device are as follows: 

2:00 p.m.--Kindles

2:45 p.m.--Nooks

3:30 p.m.--Ipads and Androids

     People should have a basic understanding of computers and their portable devices before attending this session.  There is no charge for the class, but registration is required. Space is limited. To register, call the library at 651-438-0200.


Kids Invited to Read to a Dog at the Library

     Children age 5-10 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. to read to Kippy, the certified therapy dog.  Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to this program, called Waggin Tales,  not only because it is fun, but because it helps develop reading skills and fluency.  Children may bring a book from home, or choose one from the library collection.                              

 

Children Invited to Library Movie Day at the Library

     Children age 2-6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m. to enjoy a selection of short movies.  Movies include; Strega Nona, Serious Farm, Knuffle Bunny Free, and I'm Fast   There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.


Preschool Program at the Library

     Children age 3 to 5 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, March 28 at 11 a.m. for a special program called "L is for Lunch".

Children will enjoy stories, songs, crafts and activities based on a food theme with ISD 200 ECFE.  This is a Book Adventure Program.  There is no charge for the program, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library


Clay-Making Class for Kids at the Library

     Kids age 11-16 are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, March 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. for a free class where they will learn basic clay hand-building and glazing techniques to design and build a mug.  This class is taught by a professional instructor from The Northern Clay Center.  There is no charge for the class, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library
