Event notices from the Pleasant Hill Library

F Scott Fitzgerald Expert Speaks at Library

     Author and Fitzgerald expert Dave Page will speak at the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, January 7 at 6:30 p.m.  He will talk about his latest book, The Thoughtbook of F. Scott Fitzgerald.  This program is sponsored by the Dakota County Library and the Hastings/Prescott Arts Council.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required. 

                             

Children Invited to the Library to Learn About Circuits

     Children age 6 to 12 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, January 13 at 3:30 p.m. to learn about super circuits.  Children will explore the world of circuits with The Works Museum in this shockingly fun workshop.  They will build their own motor powered fan and examine and wire their own circuits.  There is no charge for the event, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.  


Learn What The FBI is all About at the Library

     Anyone wishing to learn more about what it is really like to work for the FBI is invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, January 13 at 6 p.m. to listen to the tales and experiences of a local FBI agent.  People will learn how accurate FBI television shows actually are, and ways to stay safe online.  There is no charge for the event, and no registration is required.  For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200. 


Learn about the Internet at the Library

     Area adults are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, January 16 at 2 p.m. for a class that explains the basics of the Internet.  Students will gain a basic understanding of the Internet and learn about web browsers and how to navigate on the net.  People will learn to locate sites on the Internet using a search engine, a website URL address and the toolbar.  People should have a basic understanding of computers and be able to use the mouse.  There is no charge for the event, but registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library.  


Learn to Write Cover Letters and Thank you notes at the Library

     Area adults are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, January 24 at 2 p.m. for a class that will teach the ins and outs of writing a proper cover letter and creating an effective thank you note.  Cover letters and thank you notes are important parts of the job search puzzle.  Learn what you really need to include to get the employer's attention, the difference between a mailed and an emailed letter or note, when and how to follow-up, and proper email etiquette to effectively communicate with employers.  This calls is taught by Dakota County Workforce Center staff.
