Upcoming Events at the Pleasant Hill Library

Learn to Draw Super Heroes at the Library
     Children age 6 to 12 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. for a course explaining how to draw Super Heroes.  This class will be taught by the staff of Abrakadoodle.  Children will learn how to draw their favorite Super Hero, using a step-by-step method with basic shapes and drawing techniques.  There is no charge for the event, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library
                                                                                            
Enjoy a Movie at the Library
     Children age 2 to 6 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. for a fun-filled morning of movie watching.  Children will enjoy a selection of children's books in movie format, including: I'm Dirty, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and The Wheels on the Bus.  There is no charge for this event, and no registration is required.  For more information regarding movie morning, call the library at 651-438-0200.

Learn the Tricks of Hair Styling at the Library
     Girls age 10 and older are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, April 29th at 4 p.m. for a program called, "All Tressed Up."  Girls will work with a professional beautician to learn tricks using a curling iron, a flat iron, and other hairstyling techniques.  Girls should bring their own styling tools to the program.  There is no charge for the program, however, due to space limitations, registration is required.    To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website at www.dakotacounty.us/library

Teens Learn the Art of Giving a Pedicure at the Library
       Area girls, age 10 and older, are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m. for a special presentation on how to give yourself a pedicure.  A professional nail technician will teach girls the details about how to give themselves or their friends a proper pedicure.  Girls who attend should wear open toed shoes to the event.  There is no charge to attend the session, however, registration is required.  To register, call the library at 651-438-0200 or visit the library website atwww.dakotacounty.us/library

Minnesota Author Brian Freeman Speaks at the Library
     Area residents are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Saturday, May 4 at 11 a.m. to hear a presentation from one of Minnesota's finest authors—Brian Freeman. Brian Freeman is an international bestselling author of psychological suspense novels. His books have been sold in 46 countries and 20 languages and have appeared as Main Selections in the Literary Guild and the Book of the Month Club. His books have twice been named a finalist for Best Hardcover Novel in the annual Thriller Awards presented by the International Thriller Writers (for SPILLED BLOOD and THE BURYING PLACE), and his sixth novel THE BONE HOUSE was a finalist for Best Audiobook of the Year (Thriller/Suspense).  Freeman will read from his books and have books available for signing.  There is no charge to attend the event, and no registration is required. 

Free Computer Classes at the Library in May
     The Pleasant Hill Library will offer free adult computer classes to adults during the month of May, including;
Become a LinkedIn Power User
Do you have a LinkedIn account but don't know how to use it? This workshop will demonstrate how to set up an accurate profile, discover new contacts and participate in groups. It is presented by the Twin Cities Media Alliance and funded by the Metropolitan Library Service Agency. Basic Internet knowledge is required. Resume Rescue
Creating an effective resume is more important than ever during tough economic times. Learn how to use a resume to show a potential employer your value. Topics covered include formatting, styles, common mistakes, do's and don'ts, and more. The class will be taught by Dakota County Workforce Center staff on Friday, May 24th, 2-3:30pm, at the Pleasant Hill Library.
