MAY CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR PLEASANT HILL LIBRARY

MAY 1:  STORYTIME FOR ALL AGES. 10:30-11:00 AM. 0-6 yr. Stories and activities ideal for mixed-age audiences such as childcare groups and families. Meeting Room.

MAY 2:  BECOME A LINKEDIN POWER USER. 10:15 AM-12:15 PM. Adult. Do you have a LinkedIn account but don't know how to use it? This workshop will demonstrate how to set up an accurate profile, discover new contacts, and participate in groups. Presented by Twin Cities Media Alliance. Funded by Metropolitan Library Service Agency. Prerequisite: Basic Internet knowledge. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

MAY 2:  LEDUC BOOK GROUP. 6:30-7:30 PM. A book group for local history lovers. Meets at the LeDuc Historic Mansion @ 1629 Vermillion St. This month's book is Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine, and the Murder of a President  by Candice Millard.

MAY 3:  PRETTY TOES. 3:30-5:00 PM. Teen. Learn from a professional nail technician how to give yourself or a friend a pedicure. Wear open-toed shoes. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE.

MAY 6:  PLEASANT HILL LIBRARY BOOK GROUP. 6:30-7:30 PM. Meeting Room. This month's book is Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

MAY 21:  THE ALZEN FAMILY. 1:00-2:00 PM. The Alzen Family delivers a wide variety of family-oriented bluegrass, gospel bluegrass, and old-time music and hymns with four-part vocal harmonies. Meeting Room. Part of the Silver Tea Series. Minnesota Legacy program.

MAY 22:  MOVIES FOR KIDS. 10:30-11:15 AM. 2-6 yr. Enjoy fun children's books in movie format. Meeting Room.

MAY 24:  RESUME RESCUE.  2:00-3:30 PM. Adult. Creating an effective resume is more important than ever during tough economic times. Learn how to use a resume to show a potential employer your value. Topics covered include formatting, styles, common mistakes, dos and don'ts, and more. Taught by Dakota County WorkForce Center Staff. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

MAY 25:  WHITTLING AND FIDDLING. 1:00-2:00 PM. Hear music and stories of how a local family has been making their own fiddles for centuries. Meeting Room.
