Free hazardous waste drop-offs available to Dakota County residents

Dakota County residents will have two different opportunities this spring to rid their homes, garages and sheds of unwanted poisonous, hazardous and dangerous chemicals at no cost to them. Household hazardous waste drop-offs will be held at the following times and locations:
·         9 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Cal Ruedy Public Works Facility, 1225 Progress Drive, Hastings. For more information, call 651-480-6175.
·         9 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Central Maintenance Facility, 7570 179th St. W., Lakeville. For more information, call 952-985-4400.
Items that will be accepted at no charge include televisions, cell phones, computers, paint, fluorescent bulbs, fertilizers, pesticides, rechargeable batteries, cleaners, solvents, gasoline, oil, oil filters and other types of household chemicals. Small household electrical items such as coffee makers, fans, radios, toaster ovens and vacuum cleaners are also free to drop off. No business waste or farm waste will be accepted.
