APRIL 2013 CALENDAR EVENTS FOR PLEASANT HILL LIBRARY

APRIL 1:  STORYTIME FOR BABIES. 10:45-11:30 AM. Newborn-2 yr. Stories, songs, bounces, and playtime, make this time perfect for babies and their caregivers. Meeting Room.

APRIL 1:  PLEASANT HILL LIBRARY BOOK GROUP. 6:30-7:30 PM. Meeting Room.

APRIL 3:  STORYTIME FOR ALL AGES. 10:30-11:00 AM. 0-6 yr. Stories and activities ideal for mixed-age audiences such as childcare groups and families. Meeting Room.

APRIL 4:  LE DUC BOOK GROUP. 6:30-7:30 PM. A book group for local history lovers. Meets at the LeDuc Historic Mansion @ 1629 Vermillion St. This month's book is City of Thieves by David Benioff.

APRIL 5:  E IS FOR EGG. 11:00 AM-12:15 PM. Must be 3-5 yr. Spring into stories, songs, and crafts as part of the Book Adventure Series with ISD 200 ECFE. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

APRIL 6:  BIRDING FOR EVERYONE. 11:00AM-12:00PM. Family. Learn about birding and the birds of Dakota County. Rob Daves, an Audubon volunteer, will teach how to use binoculars and field guides. He'll give tips about how to protect and attract birds in your backyard. Daves is a Bird Study Merit Badge Counselor for the BSA. Scouts who have a signed blue card will be able to complete several merit badge requirements. Meeting Room.

APRIL 13: AUTHOR JAN DUNLAP. 11:00 AM-12:00PM. Adult. Local author Jan Dunlap talks about her writing process and the creation of the Bob White Birder Murder mystery series. Meeting Room. Minnesota Legacy program. Minnesota Mosaic series event.

APRIL 15:  MOREL HUNTING. 6:00PM-7:00PM. Adult. Learn how to find and distinguish morel mushrooms with Ron Spinosa of the Minnesota Mycological Society. Meeting Room. Minnesota Mosaic series event.

APRIL 18: Ebook BASICS. 10:15AM-12:15PM. Adult. This class will give you a basic understanding of the materials for electronic book readers available from Dakota County Library. You'll receive instruction on searching and downloading from OverDrive as well as basic information on transferring eBooks to hand-held reading devices. Prerequisite: Computer Basics or equivalent experience. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

APRIL 22:  LEARN TO DRAW SUPERHEROES WITH ABRAKADOODLE. 3:30PM-4:30PM. 6-12 yr.  Learn how to draw your favorite superhero, using a step-by-step method with basic shapes and drawing techniques. Meeting Room. Minnesota Legacy Program. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

APRIL 24: MOVIES FOR KIDS. 10:30AM-11:15AM. 2-6 yr. Enjoy fun children's books in movie format.

APRIL 26: COVER LETTERS. 2:00PM-3:30PM. Adult. Cover letters are an important piece of the job search puzzle. Topics covered include the differences between a mailed and an emailed letter or note; what you really need to include to get the employer's attention; dos and don'ts; and more. Taught by Dakota County Workforce Center staff. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—BEGINS TWO WEEKS BEFORE CLASS.

APRIL 29: ALL TRESSED UP. 4:00PM-5:00PM. 10 & older. Work with a professional beautician to learn curling iron, flat iron, and other hairstyling techniques. Bring your own curling iron or flat iron. Meeting Room. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
