Cozy up to authors Author appearances at library

Meet local and award–winning authors during January and February at Dakota County Library locations.  You'll enjoy meeting the authors, listening to them read and hearing about their latest work.  Authors will sign books at all events. 
 
Author of Spilled Blood, Brian Freeman, will answer questions about this title and his other work on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 10–11 a.m., Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Avenue, W. St. Paul.  The book discussion will be led by Wentworth's Book Ends Book Group
 
Meet Minnesota Book Award nominated author, TV producer, composer and beekeeper Fred Blanch who will read from his Mark Twain style memoir, Last Words: Frederick's Binary. Monday, Jan. 28, 6–7 p.m., Pleasant Hill Library, 1490 S. Frontage Road, Hastings, and Tuesday, April 30, 7–8 p.m., Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Avenue, W. St. Paul.
 
Loretta Ellsworth and Janet Graber, award-winning authors of teen fiction, will discuss innovative ways to create full-fledged characters with authentic voices that readers will root for at the "Writing Fiction for Teens"  program. Registration required. Saturday, Feb. 2, 12:30–4:30 p.m., Heritage Library, 20085 Heritage Drive, Lakeville.
 
Join Minnesota author Barbara Deese as she discusses her book, Murder at Spirit Falls, the first in a series featuring members of the "No Ordinary Women Book Club," Tuesday, Feb. 5, 12:30–1:30 p.m., Farmington Library, 508 Third Street, Farmington.
 
Local author Steven Derfler discusses his book, Israel's Pharaoh,  a nonfiction adventure story that begins with an alleged discovery in 1939 of a hieroglyphic fragment suggesting that one Egyptian pharaoh may have been an Israelite, on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6:30–8 p.m.,  Robert Trail Library, 14395 S. Robert Trail, Rosemount.
 
Author Peter Geye will meet with the Burnhaven Book Discussion Group—and any interested others—to discuss his books Safe from the Sea and The Lighthouse Road on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 7–8 p.m,, Burnhaven Library, 1101 W. Cty. Road 42, Burnsville.
 
Book Ends Book Group will lead a discussion of Lorna Landvik's book Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons. Landvik will be on hand to answer questions about this title and her other work on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 7–8 p.m., Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Avenue, W. St. Paul.
