Events at the Pleasant Hill Library for late June

Teens Invited to Learn How to Write Your own Song from a Professional Songwriter

The Pleasant Hill Library is hosting a summertime songwriting workshop geared specifically for teens. On Monday, June 27, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Minnesota singer, performer and teacher Sasha Mercedes will be teaching a song writing session. No experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm! If you have watched Rebecca Black’s Friday and thought, “I could do that,” or “do that better,” this is the class for you! Check out Sasha Mercedes on Facebook or Myspace. Lego-Mania at the Library June 24th!

Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Friday, June 24 at 10:30 a.m. for a special morning filled with Legos, Duplos and creativity! There will be plenty of building blocks for children to explore the wonderful world of Legos. Children may build whatever their imagination creates. All materials are supplied. There is no charge for this event and no registration is required. Children may come and go throughout the morning as their schedule permits. This event is recommended for children older than two years old.

Hooray for Summer! Celebrate the Season at the Library

Children age 3 to 5 years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Thursday, June 30 at 10:15 a.m. for a morning filled with sunshine, stories, and sweet, sweet summertime! Children will enjoy summer stories, songs, games, activities and crafts. This is a program sponsored by the library, and the Hastings area ECFE. Summertime Story Times at the Library

Babies age 0 to two years old are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Monday, June 27 at 10:15 a.m. for a morning filled with friends, stories, songs, bouncy games and playtime. This story time is geared specifically for babies and their caregivers. There is no charge for story time, and no registration is required. New babies are always welcome!

Creepy Crawly Critters and Bugs Come to the Library

Children of all ages are invited to the Pleasant Hill Library on Tuesday, June 28 at 10:30 a.m. for a morning to hear a local bug expert share his knowledge of critters and insects. Bruce the Bug Guy will demonstrate up-close these fascinating insects with live critters as well as other props. This unique opportunity is free and there is no registration for the event. However, due to limited space, tickets will be offered on a first come, first serve basis, until the meeting room is full. For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200.

Local Author Visits the Library

Local Author Stacy Waibel will visit the Pleasant Hill Library on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:30 a.m. to read from her new book, What’s on My Nose? Stacy has entertained children throughout the area for several years with her tales of Rudy, the Amazing Dog. Rudy the Amazing Dog is bewildered by something that lands on his nose. What can it be? What can he do? Hear the story and meet the author. There is no charge for this program, and no registration is required. For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200.

Calling all Crafters! Registration for the Annual Library Craft Fair Now Open

Attention local kids who have a knack for arts and crafts! It’s time to sign up for the annual summertime craft fair at the Pleasant Hill Library. The craft fair will be held on Tuesday, July 19 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. In past years, children have created items such as book marks, jewelry, art objects and other handicrafts. No item may be priced higher than $2, and no food items may be sold. To register, visit the library and pick up an entry form. The deadline for registering for the craft fair is July 16. On the day of the sale, children should be prepared to bring their own table and chair to showcase their handiwork. For more information, call the library at 651-438-0200.
