Government Building at Dakota County Fair offers fun for kids

Kids can put on their fruit and veggie crown, saddle up a plasma car, and ride at the Government Building during this year’s Dakota County Fair Aug. 9–15. They can race down the highway to health dodging fruit and vegetable cutouts. Or pretend to whip up a healthy meal in a play kitchen.

Adults are invited to join in the fun too. The “Food for Thought” resource center will serve up healthy eating tips and other health-related information. Dakota County’s Public Health staff will be available to answer questions and explain county resources.

Some special activities are planned for the week including:
· On Tuesday, Aug. 10—kids’ day—kids can pick up an orange to eat and make a healthy eating button that they can wear to remind people to eat healthy.
· Visitors can get their blood pressure checked on Thursday, Aug. 12 from 10 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 13 from10 a.m.–1 p.m.
· Canine demonstrations by the Sheriff’s Office are Tuesday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m.

The Dakota County Government Building is open Monday from noon to 7 p.m. and Tuesday–Sunday from 10 a.m.–7 p.m. The Government Building is just south of the flag poles and across from the large parking lot when entering the Fair from the Third Street entrance.
